Biography
Hamilton-Gordon was born on 28 January 1784. His ministry was a coalition of Whigs, Peelites and Free Traders, which led Britain into the Crimean War. Throughout this time the Earl of Dalhousie was Governor-General of India. He had led British India into the Second Anglo-Burmese War and was known for the Doctrine of Lapse.
